Human Resources Manager – 12 month Fixed Term

Overview:

Location: Brackmills

Hours: Monday – Friday, 25 hours per week minimum, exact hours to be agreed

Salary: Pro rata of £55,000 per annum, depending on hours agreed

The role

Reporting to our HR Director, with responsibility for a team of two HR Advisors, you will oversee the provision of all HR practices and processes in this wide-ranging generalist role. One of your strengths will be building relationships and making an impact, and you are someone comfortable working alone or as part of a team.

Whilst we all know there is no such thing as a typical day when you work in HR, the following are some of the key activity areas we envisage:

  • Effectively manage and support our HR Advisors, guiding them on the management of individual ER cases, ensuring employees are supported and company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Help develop and implement HR policies and procedures that reflect consistency, fairness and align with ILG goals and values
  • Advise, coach and guide managers on process, best practice and policies
  • Where needed, work closely with our Recruitment team to support the recruitment of high volume operational and office-based roles. Also, support Learning & Community, Health & Safety and Sustainability colleagues in maintaining a positive work environment that prioritises employee engagement through various wellbeing initiatives.
  • Build capability within the team through coaching and mentoring, leading by example and knowledge sharing. Managing direct reports through support, feedback, objective setting and progress reporting.
  • Support with relevant project work to include organisational growth and change.

What we are looking for

For you to feel comfortable & competent in the role we are looking for:

  • Proven HR experience in a multi-site operation, ideally in the logistics and warehousing industry.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent preferred; as a minimum a strong understanding and practical application of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, someone who is people orientated and results driven, who has experience of managing a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage employee relations issues, with exposure to or experience in talent management and recruitment.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making; flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and environments.
  • Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics
  • Ability to help create & roll out strategy along with the competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
