Our long-term target is to be a NetZero business by 2030. It\u2019s a big target, but we\u2019re off to an amazing start. Since 2020, we have exceeded many milestones and by January 2025, we recorded a 79% reduction in carbon emissions*<\/strong> (relative to business turnover). We\u2019re on our way to a net-zero future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clean Energy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2021 we switched all our energy contracts to Green Electricity and Green Gas tariffs. So now, 100% of our warehouses and offices are powered by sustainable energy and downsizing their carbon footprints.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Zero to Landfill<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

100% of our waste is either recycled or treated at energy-for-waste facilities, to produce enough electricity to power 60,000 homes. None of our waste goes to landfill and we’re working hard to cut our volume of waste and find new ways of repurposing it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Recyclable Packaging<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All ILG paper and cardboard packaging is made from recycled materials. Instead of oil-based packing materials, we use paper-based void-fill wherever possible. Every week we bail on average 8 tonnes of cardboard and 400kg of plastic for recycling.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sustainable Facilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are replacing our older UK warehouses with more modern, energy-efficient facilities. Our latest warehouses are rated BREEAM \u2018Excellent\u2019 or ‘Outstanding’ and equipped with extensive skylights, solar panels, low-energy LED lighting, rainwater harvesting and fuel-saving heating.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Vehicles <\/strong>
We have installed EV chargers at selected warehouses and are shifting our vehicle fleet to hybrid or all-electric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our volunteer Green Champions are busy introducing eco-friendly uniform solutions, reusable cups and promoting energy saving and waste reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travel<\/strong>
We promote public transport, cycling, car sharing, train vs plane and minimise business journeys where possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partnerships<\/strong>
We partner with sustainable waste management experts Grundon<\/a> <\/em>and packaging innovators Kite<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Offsetting<\/strong>
So far, all our carbon cuts have been achieved without offsetting, but we are exploring options to help us hit net-zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deliveries<\/strong>
We are evaluating the environmental impact of our delivery suppliers so we can provide more sustainable delivery services, via e-vans and e-bikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lighting<\/strong>
More of our warehouses feature skylights, LED lighting, and daylight and motion-activated sensors to minimise energy use.
