Fuel Surcharges Update

Please read below for an update on the ongoing situation in the Middle East and its continued impact on global energy markets and associated carrier costs.

As previously outlined, disruption to global energy markets has resulted in sustained increases in fuel costs. This has led to the following measures already being implemented:

  • A temporary 1.5% uplift to ILG fuel surcharges across Air, Road and Domestic services, effective 1st April 2026
  • The introduction of an elevated risk surcharge by DHL on applicable shipments
  • The implementation of a £0.15 per parcel emergency surcharge by DPD across all DPD and DPD Local services
  • The implementation of an additional surcharge on USA destined shipments by Starlinks of £0.20, calculated based on the actual weight of each shipment, as an example a box weighing 0.35kg would be 0.35 x £0.20 = £0.07

Additional Updates:

1. Changes to the ILG Fuel Surcharge from 11th May 2026:

  • Given the continued volatility, ILG fuel surcharges will increase by 0.5% on all service levels from 11th May 2026. These adjustments reflect changes implemented by our carrier partners and underlying market conditions.

Our updated fuel surcharges will therefore be as follows:

2. Changes for DHL Express Exclusive Customers

A small number of clients ship exclusively with DHL Express. From 13th April 2026, DHL moved to a weekly, rather than monthly fuel surcharge review cycle. As a result, from 4th May 2026 these DHL exclusive customers will be subject to DHL’s published weekly fuel surcharge as found here >

Please be assured that all measures remain under regular review and are intended to be temporary, aligned to market conditions. We recognise the impact this may have on your business and appreciate your continued understanding during this period of uncertainty.

Our teams continue to actively challenge carrier costs and assess alternative routing and service options to minimise impact wherever possible.

The situation remains fluid and should anything change, we will advise you as soon as possible.

ILG remains committed to delivering reliable and cost-effective service, while maintaining transparency on any changes affecting your operations. If you would like to explore alternative or more economical service options, our team would be happy to review your shipping profile and identify opportunities to mitigate these increases through service or routing adjustments. Please contact your Corporate Account Manager or usual ILG representative to discuss this further.

Thanks for your continued support.
