Update on The Windsor Framework

ILG (and our parent company, Yusen Logistics) continue to closely monitor developments with regards to the implementation of the Windsor Framework. When implemented, it may result in changes to the way shipments are processed between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

You may have seen that on Friday 9th June, the government published further guidance on this framework.

From 30th September 2024, a new set of arrangements for the movement of parcels under the Windsor Framework will apply. At that point, the full “green lane” will take effect. This will use a new system based on commercial information with a new set of data-sharing requirements which will ensure that customs declarations are not needed for deliveries to consumers in Northern Ireland.

The Government has committed to working closely with parcel operators and logistics companies to develop and implement these arrangements. As such, we expect further guidance available later in the year which we will share with you at the earliest opportunity.

Until the Windsor Framework comes into effect from 30th September 2024, the current Government Waiver for Express Parcel operators will remain in place so there are no immediate changes required.

We will continue to keep you updated as appropriate but, in the meantime, should you have any questions please reach out to your usual ILG contact.
