Why did you join ILG?

I worked as a Police Officer for 10 years and was looking for a new challenge in the private sector.  I worked in sales for a short period with Toyota and then I spoke to a friend who worked at ILG who told me about the company and said that ILG had a record of investing in its staff and developing people from within the company, so I sent my application form to HR.

Talk us through you career journey at ILG.

I started working on collections in the Delivery Team.  We used to receive collection forms via an Outlook inbox and I keyed these bookings manually on the system.  Thankfully due to developments in IT this process is now mainly automated, so the collections specialist is gone now! I then moved into a more traditional role in Delivery as a Customer Services Account Executive

What does your job involve?

The focus of my job is Customer Service, answering calls and ticket requests and resolving issues for our customers.  I find the job very interesting and there is a different challenge every day.  The industry moves fast, the customers’ needs move fast and ILG must stay ahead of this curve to ensure we are providing the best service to our customers as possible.

What training and development opportunities have you had at ILG?

I have had numerous training opportunities at ILG.  Training is available for basic IT skills if required.  I completed a 2-day training course to become a Mental Health First Aider which I find very rewarding, and this role continues to help me use my experience in the police in a positive way.  This year I am working on an ILM level 5 Management Development course.  I have completed one module per month for the last 10 months ranging from Management Communication skills, Coaching and general skills of Business Management.

What do you like about working at ILG?

ILG is a company that invests in its people.  It has a clear commitment to growing its business and making its customers more successful.  ILG is led by a committed and enthusiastic leadership team.  ILG is full of good people, and this is reflected in the way the company conducts its business.  I enjoy coming to work each day.  I am actively encouraged to reach my potential and the business supports those who show passion and commitment.  I am proud to say that I work for ILG and would encourage anybody looking for a new challenge in a thriving business environment to join ILG on our journey.

What advice would you give anyone considering applying to ILG?

I would advise anyone considering applying to ILG to go for it!  If you do end up with a position at ILG, settle in and learn your job inside and out.  If you are ambitious and want to progress, seek the support of your line manager, bring new ideas, be innovative and motivate yourself to move your career forward.  In my experience if you are committed, approach things in the right way and take responsibility for your career progress, you can achieve your goals at ILG.
