Tyler’s Apprenticeship

“Feeling appreciated and supported by everyone across the business drives me to give 110% on all tasks and that’s what makes ILG successful.”

What did you do before you joined ILG?

Before ILG, I had just completed my GCSEs and I had started a Level 3 ICT course at college.

Why did you join ILG?

I joined ILG because I was interested in an apprenticeship in a fast-paced and friendly environment whilst also developing skills and gaining the qualifications to start a career in the warehousing and logistics industry.

What does your job involve?

In my role as a Contract Coordinator, I am responsible for a designated team of people where I ensure that the day-to-day operation runs smoothly, the client’s expectations are met and ensuring a high level of service is maintained.

What do you like most about your job?

If I’m honest, I like all aspects of my job. I’d say that some of the best bits are the people that I work with. They have always helped me along my journey by always being there if I had any questions or needed to be taught something. I also like the fast-paced working environment and that no two days are the same. Being able to see myself develop as time goes on and being able to help others develop is also another highlight.

How would you describe the opportunities for promotion?

I would say the opportunity for promotions is fair. Take me for example, I started as an apprentice where I worked hard to gain the skills needed to become a warehouse assistant. Shortly after that, with a lot of hard work and proving myself, I became a Contract Coordinator and have had the opportunity to complete a 3-month secondment as a Warehouse Section Manager.

How would you describe the training you have received?

If I had to use one word, it would be outstanding. The level of training received from my line managers, my colleagues and my apprenticeship tutor have helped me do my job to the best of my ability. Not only have I learnt skills that help with my job, but skills that I will carry with me for the rest of my career.

What advice would you give to anyone considering applying to ILG?

I can only advise people to go for it. ILG are a great company who look after their people and like to watch them grow and develop with the business.

What advice would you give to anyone considering applying for an Apprenticeship at ILG?

If warehousing and logistics is something that you are interested in, then definitely go for it. It’s a great opportunity to learn skills that will not only help you in your job but all the way through your career.
