ILG Named Business of the Decade by Gatwick Diamond

The announcement came a week after ILG was named as a finalist in the Sussex Super Growth Awards, which celebrate high-growth businesses in Sussex. Both accolades reflect ILG’s growth over the last 10 years, from two facilities to eight, with staff numbers up 300% and turnover up 326%.

In the running for the GDBA award were the likes of Checkatrade, Denbies Wine Estate and The People’s Pension. The judging criteria were “an exceptional track-record of achievement” and “high-performing organisations that do the right thing for their clients, people and the Gatwick Diamond Community”.

Alastair Watkinson of NatWest, which sponsored the award, paid credit to ILG’s staff recognition and development programme, great customer and staff testimonials and our “consistent and positive” involvement with the local community and charity organisations. He also noted that “a large part of the supply chain is located within the Gatwick Diamond” and concluded, “The leadership of ILG are passionate about what they do, about their values and providing a high-end service to clients.”

Responding to the award, which was presented by celebrity Brian Conley, ILG MD Mike Stephenson said, “I am very proud. There were some major companies in the running for this and I am delighted we came out on top. Over this 10 year journey our business has grown a lot, the last three years fairly rapidly, and we have had to adapt and change. I was bursting with pride to pick up this special award on behalf of everyone at ILG, in recognition of an amazing 10 years work.”

Since the GDBA began, ILG has been a winner six times, including Business of the Year in 2011, the Award for Developing People for Business Success in 2014 and the Award for Corporate Social Responsibility in 2015. This is in addition to a number of other industry awards, including the 2017 UK Warehouse Company of the Year.
